Max built this 93 cu. in. nitro burning fuel injected Vincent racer in his garage in Grove, Oklahoma in 1987.
The bike's best was 205 mph by the tachometer a couple of years later at El Mirage, with Dave Breeden on board. No timing slip on the 205 mph run; however, the bike holed a piston 200 yards off the line, going through the traps at over 150 mph, one mile an hour short of setting the record for that class, which was held by a Harley Davidson -- and almost did it on one cylinder! Max says that after one of Sonny's runs he commented, "That was the fastest I've ever been on a motorcycle!" The bike is being restored by it's current owner, John Hanson of the Southern California VOC. |
