As the conversation seems to be about clutches, I guess I'll give you an update on the streamliner clutch. First and foremost I picked up the spare clutch plates yesterday so we'll be going to Bonneville with a spare, thanks to a few friends who came through recently. I've ordered two spare blower belts; they'll be here Monday, and ordered two spare rear chains, they'll also be here Monday. A new chain is on the bike and I had one spare, so we'll be going with four fresh rear chains. I have two new HYVO chains, rear engine to clutch, and enough HYVO chain left over to make up one spare, jackshaft to transmission input shaft. Back to the clutch. I just fired up the engines to make the initial spring setting on the slider clutch. All indications are that I have the clutch dialed in pretty much as is. Tomorrow I'll back the trailer up to the garage door, chalk off the wheels, take the nose cone off, push the liner's nose against the trailer, fire the liner and wick the throttle to see at what rpm the back tire lights up. This would be the lock up point on the clutch. It should lock up at about 2500 and light the tire up. |
