Most if not all racers in building an all out high performance engine, or just one that he's putting on the street to give him that little edge over his buddy, considers the valve train and what it weighs. We all know the lighter the valve train for a push rod engine, will more than likely give it a few more revs.

The valve train on Black Lightning has undergone considerable weight reduction. First would be the push rods. They are aluminium tube with hardened steel ball ends. Next would be the valve lifters. They have been lightened, polished and shot peened. They were provided by Robinson Cams, stalited of course. Next would be the valves. They have been wasted in the port, and the stems drilled, and welded after drilling. No sodium was used. Next the rockers. They have been lightened, polished and shot peened. Also magnafluxed.

A few weeks ago I contacted Russell Kemp needing his alanhead type valve adjusters. They would be lighter so an order was made for eight of the buggers. Got them in the mail yesterday. Superb in quality and best of all no charge.

Thanks Russell, and one day I'm going to get you that Vincent Black Lightning ball cap that I promised you five years ago. :o)
