Robert Steele (known by most racers as Stainless) started racing at Bonneville in 1978. He is a member of the Mountain States Automation Racing Team. As of 2008, the MSA Lakester "Bockscar" holds the Gas Lakester records for 3/4, 1, 1.5 and 2 Liters, the Fuel Lakester records for 3/4, 1, and 1.5 Liters and the 1.5 liter Blown Fuel record. Only the 3/4 and 1 Liter Gas records are under 200 MPH. Stainless joined the Bonneville 200 MPH club in 2001 and holds 4 of the records over 200 MPH. In 2003 Stainless and his son Rob built and started racing a 1 liter production class motorcycle. It evolved through Modified to Altered Partially Streamlined and in 2008 Rob gained entry in the 200 MPH Club riding the first 1 liter gas motorcycle to set a record over 200. In 2008 Stainless partnered with Jon Amo purchasing a Streamliner they hope to run in 2009.

Stainless spent quite a bit of time over at Max's this past year, and maintained a thread on landracing.com describing the build of the liner, along with photos. Here is a more complete album of photos from Stainless.
